Old Boys edge a close encounter

GREAT Crosby Catholic Primary School Old Boys U15s won another fine game last Sunday against Forefield Reds.

Games between these two are always close and this was no exception, the Old Boys winning 3-2.

In the first-half the Old Boys played some really good passing football and deservedly took an early lead when Rob Fleming scored his first goal for the team after seven years, shooting in from the edge of the box after a corner.

Forefield then had their best spell either side of half-time in which they scored twice to lead 2-1.

The Old Boys redoubled their efforts with substitutes Luke Cavanagh and Liam Kearney making a difference.

Adam Broughton drew the side’s level with another strike from the edge of the box.

Liam Kearney got the winner, his perseverance paying off when chasing a ball through to the keeper.

Jack Thorp, Tom McIver, Ben Williams, Patrick Cunningham and Danny Davies all had excellent games and it was a welcome return for keeper Greg Page.
