Bootle beat Blackpool to move step closer to promotion

AFC Blackpool 0

BLUE skies were very much in evidence at Bucks Park on Saturday afternoon as Chris O’Brien’s men took another huge step closer to promotion and title glory following a 2-0 win over visitors AFC Blackpool.

The Bootle manager was able to include his leading goalscorer, Andy Fowler, in his starting line-up along with local teenager Tony Miley who was making his home debut.

Both players were to justify their selection in this key Vodkat First Division encounter.

It was the Bucks’ last home game of what has been an excellent season and a larger than average crowd assembled to view the proceedings.

The ground was bathed in bright sunshine as Bootle kicked off attacking the Aintree End of the ground.

The home forwards were soon buzzing around the Blackpool goal but they were constantly held a bay by a rock solid defensive formation.

The Blackpool keeper was also a tower of strength making several excellent saves from Fowler and John Martin. Carl Dale, playing at left-back, put over several excellent crosses one of which was to lead to the first goal, three minutes before the interval.
