Bootle just a single point from the title
Oldham Town 0
Bootle 1
THE champagne is still on ice for Bootle Football Club and their hopes of clinching the Vodkat League First Division title.
The Bucks did all they could to move within a hair’s breadth of claiming the crown with a vital victory at Oldham Town last Saturday.
Robbie Hardwick’s strike midway through the second half was the difference between the two teams.
However, closest challengers Padiham also won 5-2 at Rochdale Town on Saturday and followed that up with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday night at Wigan Robin Park.
When the dust has settled and the calculators have been used, it all means that to win the title Chris O’Brien’s team must pick up at least one point from their final two league matches.
The Bucks will go in search of that championship-winning point on Saturday when they visit Daisy Hill. The match kicks-off at 3pm.
Bootle reserves’ fabulous season continued last Saturday with a 2-1 home success over Chadderton. Chris Parkes and Shaun Sanderson netted for Bootle.
Tonight the reserves entertain their counterparts from Glossop North End.
A win would edge the reserves ever closer to the title. The match at New Bucks Park kicks-off at 8pm and admission is free of charge.
