BOOTLE advanced with relative ease into the third round of the Vodkat League Challenge Cup last Saturday.

A fourth minute goal from midfielder Danny O’Connor quickly settled any nerves the Bucks players may have had.

Twenty minutes later, Bootle doubled the lead when leading scorer Andy Fowler added to his tally with a penalty.

And that’s how the scoring stayed until 11 minutes from time when O’Connor grabbed his second goal of the match to wrap up the tie in front of the home faithful at the Delta Taxis Stadium.

It’s back to the ‘bread and butter’ of the Vodkat League Premier Division on Saturday for Chris O’Brien’s men.

The Bucks visit Runcorn Linnets (kick-off 3pm). Runcorn currently lie in 11th place in the table having accrued 22 points so far.

Bootle have had a fine season thus far with 26 points and are in fourth place in the league. However, they are still a huge 26 points behind runaway leaders Newcastle Town who remarkably have still to drop any points at all from their 16 games.
