Woman who was told she was too fat to have a breast reduction starts as Sliming World consultant

Sarah Patterson

BUCKLING under the weight of her 36G breasts, hairdresser Sarah Patterson decided her only option was to have a reduction.

The mum-of-two was devastated when the consultant told her she was too fat to undergo the surgery.

Sarah, 36, had desperately been trying to lose weight since she was left red-faced after splitting her trousers at work.

“I was nearly 15st and thought I’ve got to do something,” she says.

“That night I went to a Slimming World class and when I started losing weight they asked me to be a consultant.

"But my breasts caused me such backache, I knew I wouldn’t be able to stand up for that long during the classes. I was having enough trouble doing that at work.

“It was something I really wanted to do though, so eventually I went to my GP and asked about a breast reduction. I was referred to a surgeon but he just told me I was too fat.

“I walked out crying and I was absolutely devastated because I thought I’d done really well to lose some weight. I couldn’t believe he could say that.”
